I stood there motionless
It’s a state of my own
Familiar with and comfortable
As the world, speeds up around me

The sand found its way between my feet
Searching for a flesh cave
To call their own
One that they may keep for awhile

Smells of salt invaded my body
And the aurora sank in
As I loosed my skin
And finally felt at home

My flesh fell off my face
String by string
My eyeballs fought to hold
Until they only became indents in the sand

The wind wrapped my hair around me
Proof that I was not a statue
And I felt the seagulls stare
Contemplating if they should make a perch

Their talons ripping into my bones
I wouldn’t dare to shake them off
And we could be one
On this ever-forbidding beach

Time after time, my knees sunk in
And now my lungs are accustomed to the grains
I breathe in delight
And just become an imprint in the sand
