Mini Ode to Leaves
*to us you are shade from the ever-warming beams of light
*to the smaller creatures you are protection from the harsh whip of winter wind
*yet we don't think twice about what you do or who you are
*we step on you, burn you, kick you aside, crunch you beneath our feet
*you provide beautiful, rich colors for us to adore yet we strip you of your pride and dignity
*you provide nourishment and shelter yet you are disrespected and discarded
*but whar amazes me the most is that dispite the torture and mistreatment you receive, you return to us every year
