Warning Label for Nostalgia
Some people walk in the woods to calm themselves
Some mediate under the darkness and the stars
Some have stress-balls and lava lamps on their shelves
Some smoke cigarettes or drown out their problems at bars
Personally my choice of poison to avoid sorrows and woes
Is to go back and get of taste of what it was like years ago
Alcohol and drugs don’t suit my palette or need
To help forget about the world’s lust and greed
The taste of cheap candy that I received on Halloween night
And reading books that simplified what was wrong and what was right
Is my way to relax and remind myself that the world isn’t so bad
That maybe we look for reasons of why we should be angry or sad
Instead of realizing that it’s us that controls if we’re upset or glad
