Colors of the Rainbow
he colors of the rainbow
Seemed more simple before
Red for love
And the color of mommy’s make-up
Orange for basketball
And the pretty colors of leaves
When I had to wear my jacket
Yellow for the sun
And for lemonade during summer break
Green for the grass
And the stains it left on my knees
Blue for the giant oceans
And the color of tasty treats
Purple for the flowers in the field
And my butterfly sheets
Underneath my sparkly canopy
Then we grow
And the rainbow seems a little less friendly
Than before
Red for rage
That we must control and never show
Orange for traffic cones
That makes us late for work
Yellow for the area
That the doctor says our health is in
Green for the money
That we step on and betray others to own
Blue for the tears
That are shed
Trying to make it through another day
Purple for aristocrats
That the rest are left to envy from afar
The same beauty
Shines different lights
