Windows long since boarded up,
Train tracks going nowhere.
Molasses smoke from semi-trucks,
Tracing pictures in the air.
Sidewalk cracks and sour candy,
Bubblegum, a broke-down store.
Empty bottles of vodka and brandy,
Dusty light, a swinging door.
Dirty snow and dirty water,
Tired minds and heavy hearts.
A big rough hand, a smiling toddler,
Hungry eyes, and hidden art.
