Tonight, a phantom slept here,
And tolls so go for the year,
But though bells are ringing,
With momentum clinging,
Tonight, this place: an aged dear.


The author's comments:
When I wrote this piece, it only took about a few minutes. The motivation came from this sketching I did of my kitchen; that was inspired by reading about 100 pages of Steven King's Duma Key. So the title was my title for the work, and then this sprung into my head for some improbable reason. Okay that's not true. The fact is that I ws pending between a poem or a drawing, and both won out. I guess I was the victim and loser of all this, but who knows how good consolation prizes can be. Sometimes, like in this Camp Lazlo episode, third is even better than first place, 'for carbonation,' I believe Scoutmaster Lumpus said...
