You said you didn’t like fake girls
You said you wanted the real thing
But you lied
I saw the longing in your eyes, the hunger
When you looked at her
In all her Latin, spray-tanned magnificence
I saw you put your arm over the back of her chair
Saw your fingers itching to wrap around her waist
I wondered if you ever wanted to kiss her
Hold her close, feel her heart beating against yours
And I wanted to kill her. And you.
My friends peered at me, gauging my reaction
They all know I love you
But I didn’t let my face betray the intense jealousy that licked my heart
Like flames
What was so amazing about her?
Was it her looks?
Her spot on the cheerleading squad?
Her popularity?
Was I really that ghastly?
That strange, that undesirable?
Are you really so shallow to go after a girl just to boost your own status?
Love means nothing to you
Only fame
Hypocrite
You said you loved real girls
But you lied
