Round, red sun reflecting off the water making it hard for me to see the horizon

Almost like when I get too close to you, I can not see too far into the future

I can only see you and the light that surrounds you and the light I believed was within you

Burning so bright that I dimmed just so that I could take more of you in.

18 years old and never looked into someone's eyes this long before

Never held someone's attention this long

Never felt the heat of someone else's touch

18 years of going to the beach, watching the waves, the water, the sun

And yet at 5:54 that morning it felt as if those waves crashed again a little differently than all the other times before
