Thoughts in Shadowed Darknes

It’s dark in here,
In the abyss of my thoughts
Calm
Quiet
I shield my thoughts
With what you see on the outside
Laughs
Smiles
But beneath that
Is the real me
Mellow
Sensitive
It’s dark in here because the light out there is blinding
It’s too much
Painful
Glaring
So I make it dark in here to protect what I think
My thoughts in the dark can’t be hurt
Safe
Secure
If they were in the light, If people knew
They’d turn away
Shunned
Exiled
But then I’d be out of the light
Able to retreat into my own personal darkness
Deep
Shaded
Solitude would come at last
I could be me with no worry
Content
Reserved
But the light will always be there
Casting shadows on my thoughts
Constant
Eclipsing
No matter, For I like the dark in here
In the abyss of my thoughts
Calm
Quiet

What you see on the outside, isn't always what you get on the inside...
