The Gardener
She was addicted to flowers
And always had her light
She loved their sweet smells
And their colors so bright
She would kiss them good morning
And kiss them goodnight
She would nurse them at noon
Just for her own delight.
And through her long, lonely nights
Her flowers sang her to sleep
And through her moments of shame
Her bud close by she would keep
And through work days of painted smiles
Her grass was the only one who saw her weep.
She grew very attatched
To the distractions of her greens
She smoked her saddness into submission
And never let her weakness be seen
She continued on smiling for the show had to go on
And everyone fell for the picture perfect scene.
