The Big Debate on Gay Marriage
The Big Debate on Gay Marriage
A lot of protesters are protesting to make same sex marriage legal in all states of our country. A lot of people who are gay are protesting for this so they can be able to be legally married so they can do things that some couples are only aloud to do. More and more people are accepting gay marriage now more often because of all the attention that the celebrities have brought to it, and even our president Barack Obama. Barack Obama does support same sex marriage because he believes that gays should be happy in our country to. “I had hesitated on gay marriage in part because I thought that civil unions would be sufficient,” Barack Obama said. “I was sensitive to the fact that for a lot of people, the word marriage was something that invokes very powerful traditions and religious beliefs.” This means that Obama wouldn’t want to go against any religion but being married is a very powerful belief as long as religion.
Not being married legally to your partner can be really dangerous. If you are married to somebody that’s the same sex and you live in a state where gay marriage isn’t legal, that affects you. If you chose to adopt a kid and raise him up there are many affects for your adopted child. One affect on the adopted child is that if your partner adopts the child and he passed away your kid wouldn’t be able to stay with the other partner since they aren’t the legal parent.
Having gay marriage in only some states could be very dangerous for gays to live in. Imagine having your gay partner get into a terrible car crash and in the hospital, and you rush to the hospital and the lady at the front desk tells you that only family is allowed to see the person who got into the accident. It always hurts seeing a loved one hurt and almost dying, but it hurts even more when you aren’t able to see your partner unless you’re legally married, and that’s not allowed in all states.
I feel that gay marriage should be allowed in all states of our country. A law should not make somebody feel as if who they really are isn’t allowed to be expressed for where they live unless it’s in the few states that are legal. Most men and women who like the opposite sex say that “my wedding was the best day of my life” or “ my wedding was the most exciting night of my life.’’ So why can’t people who don’t like the opposite sex have that to say since their not legally married.
I support gay marriage for many reasons now. One of the biggest reasons I support in same sex marriage is that I don’t believe that there is no other judge but god, and I wouldn’t want to be the person who would tell somebody that they can’t love somebody since I see them being happy and everyone should be happy and it would be wrong to take away happiness from somebody. Also picking who you want to get married to and spend the rest of your life with should be optional and your decision, no matter who tells you that you can’t or who it is to.
