No Justice, No Peace! MAG

By Anonymous

"No justice, no peace!" was heard by thousands of people in Los Angles after the news spread that the four L.A. police officers accused in the beating of Rodney King had been found not guilty.

I live in Plymouth, New Hampshire, a small, mostly white populated town. Even in Plymouth, you could hear people's reactions to the situation in L.A. and across the United States; people were angry. Comments were made like "The jury must have been blind not to see that those cops were using excessive force!" and "Our legal system does not work; it's about time the people take control!" I agree 100 percent.

Rodney King did not deserve to be beaten in that way, if at all. One or two hits to the knee would have been plenty to get things under control, and that's if things were out of control to begin with. If he had been a white man, things probably would have been different, and that's pretty sad.

Those four cops give humanity, not to mention other cops, a bad name. Justice was not served, and because of the way the legal system works, it probably won't be! n
