The Dark
Author's note:
THis story is completely fictional
Everything was black. The last thing I remembered was running and a black smoke engulfing me and Michael . I felt around, I wasn't contained in anything, at least anything solid. "Michael!" I called out. No response. "Michael!" I yelled even louder, I could hear the desperation in my voice. I needed Michael, he was the one thing that kept me going. Well there's also Jess but Michael and I have always been more compatible. I heard a voice in the distance and my worry almost completely vanished...almost. It was Michael, I ran in the direction of his voice until I ran into him. Michael didn't even bother to complain and pulled me into a tight hug. My heart melted as I realized that it truly was him. I was so relieved that I started to silently cry into his shoulder. "It's okay" I heard him whisper It's okay, I'm here." Then a strange silence before a loud voice spoke, surrounding us in sound. "Well well, isn't this sweet" there was a sigh " I guess if it bugs you that much then i'll let you two die together... but not without some screaming." Laughter echoed around them and faded. I grabbed Michael's hand to make sure he was still there. He squeezed my hand in return for reassurance. We stared into the darkness for a few seconds before I heard a familiar voice calling out to us. "Sammy! Sammy where are you?! Sammy!" I recognized the voice. Jess was calling for us. I turned around and saw a spot where it wasn't dark. Standing there was Jess, her arms chained to the ground, her face bloodied. I tried to run to her but something was holding me back, It was Michael's hand. He pulled me back towards him. "No" he said "That isn't Jess. Jess wouldn't let something like that happen to her. Not without a fight. And if she was really here then she would've called for us earlier." I tried to pull away from him. In my heart I knew he was right but the sight of someone familiar knocked the logic out of my head. I screamed at him "Let me go! Let me go! It's Jess. How can you not see that! She needs us! LET GO!" I struggled against his grip but he wouldn't let go. I stopped and looked at him. His tired eyes pierced me. The darkness was letting up. I looked at Jess then back to Michael. I bit him. "What the f***?'he said looking disgusted. He pulled me closer to him, refusing to yell at me, and looked at my eyes. There was confusion written on his face. He pulled up his hand and smacked me across the face. I was thrown back to my senses. I looked over at where Jess was standing, and in her place stood a terrible demon with dark caverns for eyes and blood covering most of it's eyes. I screamed and clutched Michael. "You were blinded by love Sam. It's okay the demon is chained to the ground. If you had unchained it then we would need to be worried. "I nodded and made a mental note to, from then on, trust Michael with basically everything; including my life.
We continued to feel around in the dark scrounging for something hinting at escape. A door handle, a railing or even a wall. Yet all the while we still held on to each other. For it was one thing to be lost but it was another to be lost alone. Eventually I found something solid. I felt all around it. It seemed almost like a railing. I stepped forward and felt my foot sink down into the floor. I stepped again and my other foot went down further. I gasped “it’s a staircase.” I squinted and saw a faint light at the bottom of the stairs. “ Michael I see a light too. At the bottom!” At this Michael darted down the stairs and for once i felt that we were actually free. But one thing still bugged me. “wait … Michael? We forgot something”. He didn’t turn around but he stopped moving. “What Sammy?” He asked. “We forgot Jess.” I exclaimed. Then the echoing voice from the dark reappeared, only this time he spoke inside of my head. "Oops I forgot to mention. You can't leave with both of them. Only two of you can escape. You let your love for me die! So in return one of you must stay here and die" said the voice. The voice once again disappeared and I looked over at Michael. Knowing that there was only one option I reached out and touched his arm. "Michael" I said. "Only two of us can leave. He told me that one of us must stay here and die." Michael studied my face hoping for the rest of my plan to be there. "I'm not going to let you two die. I was the one who loved him, not you, and i'm the one who stopped so I shall pay the price. Once you get out of here go to Hades. You might be able to get me out of Hell." I said avoiding his eyes. "I will ask him where to find Jess then he most likely will take my life soon after." Then without waiting for a response I closed my eyes. I shall join you only if you tell me where you hid Jess. "She is in a cage by the door" said a voice then with an laugh he exited my mind. I repeated what he said to Michael then I felt the darkness close around me. I fell to the ground "Good luck. I love you both." I whispered. Then out of the dark someone emerged. It was Him. He pulled his arm up and over my shoulder and slowly we departed into the dark. Where Hell was waiting for me. where I would die. I smiled at the thought. Death will be interesting
