Grandma
What is life? What is the point of life? What is the reason to why human beings got put on Earth? My great-grandma had questioned that as she cried moans of discust while she was in hospice contemplating the point of life. I asked her if she wanted anything, and she told me that she wanted to know why we are all here in the first place. She asked why there is suffering, andsuch pain and agony in this world. I felt confused, and didn’t really understand why and what was going through her mind. She would probably think I’m crazy for having such thoughts i’m having as she kept questioning life. On the outside, my face was a straight face, agreeing with her every word she said. On the inside, many emotions of confusion, and sorrow filled my brain to the fullest. I don’t think she really understood how beautiful life really is, especially now as she was lied in her death bed. She should have cherished those moments before she left. She knew she will soon too, maybe she was distressed, or just actually wonders why there are life forms on this planet, inside of a universe floating in the middle of darkness. I finally tell her “life is precious Grandma, and you have lived a wonderful life.” The face she made caused me to have chills streaming down my body. She said “It’s only the beginning”, and shortly dirfted into a deep sleep. The most magical feeling I’ve ever experienced of my life just happened, and at the time, I didn’t realize how special that moment was. Life does have meaning, and pursuing it the right way does make a difference.
