Event That Provokes a Particular Emotion
When I volunteered for the softball Special Olympics, I never knew how happy I would be! They were all so happy. They liked competing each other. They never got mad at eachother either. They always high fived each other and kept a positive attitude towards one another. Their facial expressions were too cute! They hustled all the time and always ended up with a smile!
I was very surprised that day as well. There were so many volunteers there to help, which was a good thing. We had everyone doing something to help out. I helped out by walking them around to their stations. There were also a lot of players that showed up. Some of them even came in teams. I was also surprised of how good they played. They could do everything so well!
I was also very excited to be helping out. I was glad to be there. I got to cheer them on on everything they did! They did incredibly good too! I remember watching them get their awards. Even though one of them got a gold and the other got a silver, they were still happy to be getting an award.
One other emotion I felt was sad. I didn’t like to see their faces when they got down on themselves. I mean they got right back up and competed but it still made me upset. When they were all done with their events, I got upset because I knew that they had to go home. I remember that one of the girls came up to me and shook my hand and said, “ Thank you for helping us and I hope to see you again.” That is when I had to leave. I will always remember this event because of how fun it was to help! I plan on doing it for other sports also and coming back next year.
