You would have imagined that your first time driving would be fantastic, although mine was far from that. While sitting in the car I thought finally I can do it, I soon found out that I can’t do it.  While driving you should always stay calm and never panic or you could end up like me… In a huge ditch with your vehicle leaning sideways in watery mud.
While driving to Cortland and Dryden, my stepmother decided to let me drive on the way back.  She took me on Hoag Ave. in Moravia. When I started driving I was doing a pretty good job, I drove to the end and turned onto another road. Once to the end I turned around and went back to where we started. Once we got closer a car was coming. I started freaking out and asking what to do. My mom told me to pull over to the grass, so I pulled over, but I pulled over to far and went into the ditch. My mom started freaking out as well as me, not to mention all of my siblings were in the car. We were sitting sideways in the ditch. We waited until the car drove past us to get out of the car. When we got out I went up to the front of the car and tilted my head, I laughed and said, “If you turn your head it doesn’t look bad at all!”. As soon as we got out of the car she pulled out her phone and called her friend Kristina to come and pull us out. When she got there I realized she brought her cousins to help. We didn’t even get stuff hooked up and then here comes another car. Turns out it was a good friend of my stepmothers who lives with Kristina. When he pulled up, he decided to bring all of his kids with him. He pulled us out and we decided to go back to their house. When we got there, I decided to call my aunt and tell her all about it since she was the first one to let me drive her car. She laughed and told me to never tell my uncle if I wanted to drive her car again. My aunt lives next door to my grandparents and of course went over there to tell them. My other aunt doesn’t know how to drive so she laughed and told me not to worry about it because it sounds like something she would do. After I got off the phone everyone asked me if I was okay, and I was physically but not mentally I joked. After I explained I was alright they continued to laugh and joke around about it. And that was the first impression that Kristina had of me, which is pretty funny, but it’s okay because we hang out a lot now and all forgot about it.
What I have learned from this experience is to never panic and to stay calm, also if a car is coming at you just stop and let them pass you and them get stuck.
