Tears of Sadness to Tears of Joy
We all have those days. Those days when things just don’t go how we expect them and it feels like the whole day will be a huge dark tunnel with no light at the end. Even when you think there’s no way your day could get better, I believe that friends are always there to pick you up. No matter what’s going on in my day, my friends always find a way to cheer me up with laughter, and funny jokes. From random outbursts to laughing so hard I cry, my friends are always there for me.
A few months before high school started, my dog that I’d had for seven years passed away. I couldn’t bear the thought of not having one of my best friends around anymore. I went to school and walked into class with a blue look on my face and slumped down in my chair as I attempted to face my day. My best friend Olivia was the person to turn it all around. She supported me the whole day by crying for me when I couldn’t, and making me laugh when I thought there was nothing that could.
Another time was just recently when I went to the movies with two of my best friends Olivia and Karlie. After, we walked out of the theater and ran around laughing and talking about the movie we had just watched. Jokingly, Olivia pushed me lightly but being the clumsy person I am I fell over and my phone flew out of my hand. I lifted up my phone to find the screen had been shattered almost like a spider had weaved its web right in my screen. Tears built up in my eyes as I realized what had happened. Although I was sad Karlie found a way to make me laugh by having one of her random outbursts of thoughts. She yelled “OH MY GOD” and nearly gave everyone a heart attack as she continued to say “Remember that time when Mackenzie ripped her pants trying to get over a fence.” After about five minutes, the tears of sadness had turned into tears of laughter as we all cracked up at what Karlie had to say.
Over the summer, I did a college readiness academy. Most days were good, but it was a month long program so it was basically like having school for an extra month. Towards the end, I was just tired of getting up early and one day I just had a not good day. I went to class and sat in my usual spot along with all my friends. I was tired and just didn’t want to be there, but my friend Cami made everything better. We came up with this elaborate plan that we called “Kitten Karnival” We laughed so hard joking about creating a carnival where you could win kittens that tears streamed down our faces and our stomachs hurt. The rest of my day was filled with laughter and talk about kittens that I didn’t even remember why I was down in the first place.
We all have had those days where you’re just not your usual self, but I think we should all remember that no matter how bad your day may get your friends are always there to turn it around. Whether it’s a joke they say, or just being there for you, they can make any situation okay.
