My First Visit to Six Flags Great Adventure

October 13, 2015

It was May of 2015 when I took my first trip to Six Flags Great Adventure (Six Flags), in New Jersey.  I went with my school; but I wasn’t supposed to be going. A couple of days before the trip, I was told that teachers were taking students to Six Flags for free, however I never talked to any teachers about this, nor did I have a permission slip of my own. The day before the trip, my friend reminded me that the school was going to Six Flags. I remembered that hadn’t turned in a permission slip, luckily my friend decided he wasn’t going to go on the trip, and gave me his. I got my mom to sign it, and everything was complete. The next morning on the bus, I was very excited.

I get into school, anxious to go already; my friends and I ate breakfast and then went to the front office to wait for the teachers and buses. We waited for about fifteen minutes then we finally got onto the bus and started our two hour road trip to Six Flags. Throughout the bus ride some people fell asleep, listened to music, talked with each other or just sat quietly and waited to get there. We finally arrive, and there were a lot of other schools that pulled up along with us. Everyone, including myself was anxious to get on the roller-coasters; but we had to wait for the teachers to give us the rules and directions on where to go after we were done.

We’re finally in the park walking around discussing which ride we’re going to get on first. The first ride we chose was The Superman, and I was kind of scared. We got on and the ride had us facing the ground. I didn’t know what to do. I wanted to get off of the ride, but at the same time, I wanted to have fun. After the ride, I was thrilled, I didn’t know whether I wanted to get back on the ride or get on more; but we ended up getting on other rides. Our next ride we got on was The Green Lantern. We had to stand up on this ride, it was kind of uncomfortable, but also entertaining. During the ride, I yelled and even cursed a few times, but enjoyed every minute of it.

We finally get hungry and go to the food court to get us something to eat. The school paid for our food, so it was free. Everyone got the same meal, pizza and fries; we relaxed and ate for about thirty minutes. After eating, we decide to play a few arcade games. We chose the basketball playoff game and won prizes. After playing the arcade games, we got on the El Toro. I were kind of scared because this ride appeared to be old, it was wooden and had many hills, more than the other roller-coasters. However, I was there to have fun, so I got on anyway. Not long after we fastened our safety belts, did we take off. Again, I thought to myself, why did I do this? My stomach dropped and I was laughing, I don’t know what was making me laugh though. We got off of that ride and got onto another ride. The name of this ride escapes me, maybe because it wasn’t much fun at all. It just had a few turns and hills on it, but there were no thrills about it and it lacked excitement.

The next ride we went on was advertised as being the highest and fastest roller-coaster in the world, The KingDa Ka. I was terrified, to say the least. The line was kind of long. While I was waiting; I took the time to watch the other people’s expressions and emotion as they exited the ride. The ride wasn’t very long, it was about fifteen seconds. We finally made it to the front of the line. My stomach dropped before we even stepped onto the platform to get on the ride. I sat in a seat anyway, strapped myself in and I was ready to go. Before I knew it, we were on a huge hill. Going up this hill had to be the longest part of the ride. We finally reached the top; there was a quick pause, and a sudden drop. When the ride dropped, it went faster than all of the other rides that we had previously got ridden. My eyes were closed the entire time, but I felt every bit of it through my stomach. When the ride was over I wanted to get back on. Unfortunately, due to a lack of time we had to move on.
