My Father
The only thing that I see is my mom, standing there, not knowing what to do or where to turn. As my father storms out of the house. Ever since then it has been my mother and I. Her working 10 hours a day when I barely see her. She tells me every night when she tucks me into bed that everything will be okay and he will come back, he just went on an unexpected vacation. And I believed her. Every day after school I would be sitting staring out the window just waiting for my father to pull up. Without him I felt empty. I never had that father figure in my life. The only thing I had was guys that would come home with my mom after work. But those guys didn’t do anything they would just spend the night and leave. When I was about twelve I figured out that my mom would sit at the bar from about 4-10 every night. I couldn’t do anything about it. I didn’t want her to get mad or more stressed out. She was the only one I had. I rarely made it to school because my mom would have to go to work early in the morning and we couldn’t afford for me to ride the bus. I only had one friend and I met him from school. He lived down the street from me. When my mom wasn’t home I would go over to his house she never knew about anything I did because she was never home. After school one day I was at my house about to go to my friends and unexpectidly came a car. Cars never come by my house. As I watch the car pull up I see a tall man with a beard get out of the car. I realized that it was my dad, I haven’t seen him in 5 years. He walks up to the door not knocking just trying to let himself in, I wanted to let him in so badly but I didn’t know if my mom would want that. I decided that I was going to let him in. I open the door with the biggest smile I have ever smiled. My father looks at me and says “son.” I say “yeah dad?” , expecting him to come inside and explain himself but all he said was “come with me, we can live a perfect life she doesn’t care about you.” all I thought to myself was she does care about me and she is the only one who has been there for me. I told him “no.” he looked furious I say “come live with us again and it will be how it used to be.” He looks at me straight in the eye and says “things will never be the same so come with me or I will make you and your mothers life miserable.” just because of that I say to him “I’m not coming with you, you left me, I will never trust you again.” as a tear runs down my furious face. He looks at me for a solid 15 seconds and walks away slowly, he looks back shakes his head and gets inside of his car. I can’t believe what just happened I have been waiting for this moment for 5 years and this is how it happens. Ever since then he never saw his father again.
