My Best Day!!!
My best day or my best day so far was on November 10, 2008. It didn’t start until 5 in the
evening… Here is how that day went (or at least how much I remember of that day).
So it all started when I came back that afternoon from school at around 4pm. It was a breezy
Monday, and I thought that the trees were dancing (I was about 8 back then). The temperature was
I think about 55 degrees Fahrenheit. By the way I used to live in Washington State at that time, so
no wonder it was 55 degrees Fahrenheit at 4pm in the evening! In Washington it’s super cold! I got
off my school bus and was heading towards my friend Riya’s house. I was going to her house
because my parents had gone to my mom’s doctor appointment. They went to the hospital because
they had gone to see how my little sister that was going to be born very soon was doing. I was so
excited that I was going to be a big sister, but I had to wait until November 20th until she was
born. So anyways, I started walking to Riya’s house which was pretty close by to the bus stop.
I reached her house at approximately 4:15pm and walked inside their door. The first thing I
heard when I walked into the door was her mom, ''Do your homework before you do anything
else!" she said. After that, we started by doing our homework. We were done at 4:30pm because
we were only in second grade back then, and the only homework we had that day was to finish
coloring a pumpkin for Thanksgiving.
At around 5pm my dad called, and I thought it was just because he was going to pick me up
from my friend’s house, but no… When I received the phone from Riya’s mom, my dad said,
“Your little sister is born!'' I was so thrilled that she was finally born, I jumped with excitement!
Also, I was surprised because I thought that she was going to be born on November 20th. After
about an hour or so, my dad picked me up and took me to the hospital to go see my sister. When
we went to the hospital, a woman asked me who I was because in order to see a newborn baby,
you had to be closely related to the baby or else you couldn’t go meet the baby. I happily said that
I was her big sister with a grin on my face.
When I saw my sister in that room right next to my mom’s bed, she was so tiny and red! All I
wanted to do was hold her. As I held her on my lap, I was glad to be a big sister. I really liked
having a younger sister, but after a while I got jealous sometimes because she got my parent’s
attention all the time. Even though I felt this way, I still liked being a big sister. I still do. Although
sometimes, my sister could be really annoying! Last year, my sister drew on my homework with a
sharpie! Luckily, my teacher in 6
th
grade teacher didn’t mind, and let me turn it in for credit.
