Personal Metaphor
Its was the bottom of the ninth, two outs and the winning run was on second base, but a lot more than that was on the line. The all-time hitting streak that he had worked so hard for and so many years for was up for grabs here. Worry only about the streak, or only about his team? This was playing through his mind as he took his slow stroll to the plate. He bent down, picked up some dirt and brushed it in his hand, tightly gripped the bat and waited. Boom, strike one! He backs up, bent down, picked up some dirt, and brushed it in his hand again, clinched the bat and waited. Boom, off goes the ball with the sound of lighting as the bat cracked, and off into the night went the ball.
