Have you ever taken things for granted? Well, many people do. Some examples of things people take for granted are: a fully functioning body, food, water, and clothing, just to name a few. Things that you think are basic needs, things that you could not live without, other people somewhere out there are living without those things. So never take anything for granted and learn to be more grateful, not everyone can live in rollick. There are lots of people across the world who live in terrible poverty and struggle even to afford their basic needs. Like people in third-world countries, for example, Afghanistan, Angola, and Bangladesh. Unfortunately, people in those countries are forced to live like vultures, scavenging for whatever they can get. There are also people living in Calamity in Ukraine.

I used to take everything for granted until I started to learn about how bad some people in other countries are. I remember complaining about not wanting to eat something my mom made, and then she told me how some people are so hungry that they eat dirt cookies. Ever since that day my view was flipped upside down.

While this might sound terrible, it's the truth of how many people worldwide live their lives. Now you might be wondering “How does this affect me?” While this might affect you because there are probably some geniuses living in poverty who, if provided with proper schooling, food, water, and housing might be able to come up with some revolutionary ideas on how to improve the lives of people around the world. I mean, there are probably 1 trillion people with the potential to cure cancer or, solve world hunger, but unfortunately, Poverty spits in their faces, therefore effectively stopping them from reaching their full potential.

Not taking things for granted is also just a good mindset to have. I used to get frustrated about simple things, for example, one time I got vanilla instead of chocolate ice cream. Now with my new viewpoint on things it made me realize that not having the right kind of ice cream is not something to complain about and that instead, I should be grateful that I am lucky enough to be in a situation where I can even get ice cream at all. A more grateful mindset could help everyone be happier and more thankful for the small things.
