In 8th grade, we went on a trip to DC, to see America by bus. After rear ending some cars, our
driver had a screaming match in the middle of a restaurant with the owner. After a while, we
began calling his bus the “killdozer,” after both the destruction he caused and the folk hero who
exacted revenge on city officials who had harmed his small business. It’s fitting our driver’s bus
was named for this vehicle of freedom, because they both are prominent examples of what
America’s really about. It was when I saw his argument I saw America.
