Who Did It?
What would be your first response if you heard that a cop killed a black person? Whatever that emotion may be, be sure to not hold on to that emotion forever because whatever evidence may come out could be different than what you thought before. In the case of Eric Garner, even my own feelings changed when I first saw what really happened.
Based on the autopsy report, Garner died because of his own health issues, not by asphyxiation; there was no damage to his neckbone nor his windpipes. Daniel Pantano, the police officer, had done a submissive hold to Garner; his health problems kicked in because it was too much for his heart to handle. Pantano did not kill Eric Garner.
Now, in the defense of Garner, was it necessary to keep him on submissive hold even though he said he couldn’t breathe? Garner was clearly audible and Pantano should have heard what he was saying, yet why did they keep him on the ground? Another thing I had observed in the video was that not one paramedic resuscitated him. It is a job for a paramedic to revive a patient who has been unconscious, yet those paramedics did not do a thing.
So, the real question for this is, who really killed Eric Garner? Was it him, having health issues which cause his demise, or was it the paramedics who did not try to revive him whatsoever? The justice system has a valid reason to not indict him because he actually did perform an approved submissive hold, plus Garner did not die from another person. Reconsider your feelings and look at the facts of what actually happened, otherwise you won’t know who you really are against.
