Don't hurt others!
Each and everyday you go to school. You don’t walk in with fear or pride, you just walk in with a neutral expression on your face and your arms at your sides. Yet at the end of the day it varies. You can walk out with a grin on your face and your chin held high. Or, you can walk out hurt. Not necessarily physically hurt but hurt. Hurt by the words that another kid has shouted down the hall. We’ve all had this happen to us and the moment goes and is gone. But not for others. Others get this everyday, others get a full sentence, others can get it sent to them right from home, from their computers. Some get rude texts that cannot be blocked. Sometimes, they can get these things so much, that that mutual expression when they first walk into school changes into a worried “am I gonna get a word beating today?” look. And others, can’t take the struggle anymore. Its been a detriment to their self esteem and a beating to their personal life. Eventually they don’t want to go to school anymore. This is why bullying needs to be stopped.
Bullying is a problem that dates back long ago. Its been around as long as schools have been. In fact, school is where it got its start. But nowadays its not just limited to school. This new age of technology has brought great advantages and disadvantages, cyberbullying being its greatest disadvantage. Cyberbullying is bullying taking the form of a rude text or nasty web rumor. Cyberbullying ha taken bullying to a whole new level, it now allows these victims to get teased at school and at home or on the go. A great example of this would be the movie cyberbully. It is about three girls who go to a school. One of the girls, who just went through a breakup, gets jealous of the main character, Taylor. So the friend poses as a cute guy on a social media website. She defends Taylor against rude minor comments for a little bit, but then starts to attack her by saying that Taylor gave him an STD. Taylor then gets harassed even more until she tries to commit suicide but fails. The friend then comes clean as the cyberbully and the two make up. This movie may have had a happy ending, but the message is that anyone can pick on anyone even those who are totally unexpected to do so.
If you murdered someone and were put in prison of 15 years, would you agree that the punishment was fair? Yes should be the answer. Now, if your punishment was the death penalty then would you agree that its fair. No! The death penalty isn’t fair for anyone. Now you might be asking, what does this have to do with bullying? You see, the death penalty has been known to punish many people who were wrongly accused. So instead of just wasting 15 years of their life it was thrown away because they were wrongly accused of murder or rape. So what im saying is that bully victims are like the wrongfully accused, they did nothing wrong and got death instead. It is estimated that at least a thousand U.S teens either successfully or unsuccessfully commit suicide every year. That is unacceptable. I believe that our schools need to open their eyes and notice these things. These days teachers shouldn’t be walking down the hallway and not do anything about a kid getting picked on, because that can lead to a whole lot more than you thought. So please teachers help a kid out and report any bullying you see immediately. This also applies to bystanders as well because they are just as of fault as the bully.
You probably thought before this essay that bullying was wrong to. But now, I hope you know so much more about this escalating issue than ever before. Cyberbullying is just making it worse, bystanders don’t help, and schools should take this matter more seriously. Just remember stop bullying!
