i was just old enough
I WAS JUST OLD ENOUGH…
I was just old enough to understand why my grandpa died. I was sitting in my room when I got the phone call from my uncle. It was December 21, 2004. He gave me and the rest of my family the bad news.
I was just old enough to know that he was in a coma for three days and he had no use of his brain. He was legally brain dead.
I was just old enough to understand that I would never get to say good bye to my grandpa. That is the worst feeling ever.
I was just old enough to understand that I was never going to see my grandpa ever again. My grandpa was everything to me. He was my best friend.
I was just old enough to know what the 21 gun salute was. It shows respect to veterans. Once the first set of shots when off, I lost it. I started crying like a baby. I couldn’t keep in anymore. I had to get it out.
I was just old enough to remember that day for the rest of my life. I will never forget my grandpa. He will always be with me.
