The Best Thing I Could Ask For

A dramatic moment in my life was when my little brother Milan was born. This was such a turning point in my life because I have never had a brother before that was going to be someone I take care of and watch him grow up.

It started out with the constant crying with endless amounts of tears falling and waking up in the middle of the night with a stomach so empty you could hear the cries from miles away. But then it all sort of changed as he got older when he learned how to calm down and sleep of course.

His looks started out not as a little newborn baby with a cute face but with a face like an old wrinkly man. But then as he got older that went away and now he is the cute little 5 year old boy he is today. Thank goodness. Now his skin is no longer old and wrinkly but now soft and shiny all the time, the type of face everyone wants.

His attitude started out as this baby who liked to cry and scream but yet be happy and laugh too. Now with his expanded vocabulary and the knowledge of a 10 year old at age 5 his comebacks are one insane and two logical That's mostly why we are so close, we have been able to communicate for as long as I can remember, it is almost like we have our own language just by using our hands or eyes. He’ll look at me then look at my keys then back up at me and the next thing you know we are at the beach swimming.

His emotions and body language have evolved as he got older. For example he will say my name, “Ciarah,” (sur-a, as he pronounced it) then will follow it up with, “I NEED more juice.” Saying it, laying on his back with eyes closed like he is in NEED and cannot function without it. Another example is when he wakes up in the morning, eyes squinting, body heavy, swaying side to side as he walks, acting as if he has had the longest day ever but it's only 8 in the morning. Attitude everywhere. But I would be lying if I said I didn’t know where the attitude came from because it was definitely from me, no questions asked. Also a good possibility that's  another thing that drew us both closer. We act the same and learn from each other. I mean we spend every waking minute with each other so it makes sense.

Me and Milan’s relationship has grown to be super strong and we have grown to be even closer with each other. The way he says his words and his body language express it. He really does know how to cheer people up, well at least me for sure. I like to say he and I are each other's best friends as we spend tons and lots of time together. And even though he is only five years old right now, I would not want our relationship to function any other way. I love the relationship that we have and I would not want it to be any other way.
