The Bargain of Life
One second I’m alive, and the next I’m stuck in between.
I glance up to see an alluring bird-like creature…
Below me, a mummified body lays peacefully becoming a plant.
“I wish that was me right now,” says my inner voice.
I glance up and see the mystical bird staring at me.
my thoughts begin to scramble within my head, what to say?
But the bird quickly asks, “Do you deserve a second chance?”
“um” I blurt out then again I say, “please I did my best”
The bird looks at me and says “Not good enough one last try”
as I gulp to clear my throat my brain begins to brainstorm.
I was helpful, selfless, and patient what else is needed?
after I spoke these words I wait for the response eagerly…
“I believe you” at that moment a weight was lifted off me.
as I look down at my hands they aren’t transparent anymore.
I thank the bird, and within seconds is gone. Now what?
before answering I get lifted into the air by the wind…
as I’m laid down next to the others I finally receive peace.
