Unpredictable Destruction
"Woah dude, did you feel that?"
"I though that was just me."
"Nah bro, I think that was an earthquake."
An earthquake is the worst natural disaster to experience because they have caused millions of dollars worth of damage. Earthquakes are caused by Earths tectonic plates rubbing against each other. The violent shaking of an earthquake. Therefore, earthquakes are the worst natural disaster to experience because they can happen at any given time.
Earthquakes are cause by tectonic plates rubbing against each other. Earthquakes Inductive Model, "At the edges of these tectonic plates is where most earthquakes occur." The Earth's crust moves three different ways; pulling apart, sliding by each other, and one rinding over the other. Fault lines are where the plates meet. Dip-slip faults are blocks of crusts pushing together or pulling apart.
The violent shaking of the earthquake can cause a building to go down almost immediately. Earthquakes Inductive Model, "The biggest earthquake ever recorded happened in Chile on May 22, 1960, with a 9.5 magnitude." A large earthquake will feel like a sudden large jolt. It will be followed by strong shaking. A magnitude 8 earthquake happens somewhere every year. Around 10,000 people die from it. Earthquakes are often accompanied by mudslides, fires, floods, or even tsunamis.
There is no foolproof way to predict earthquakes, although scientist are woking on it. Earthquakes Inductive Model, "Each number on the Richter scale stands for an earthquake that is 10 times more powerful than the number before it." If we could predict an earthquake tons of people would be safer. Preparation of earthquakes is just making sure buildings are able to withstand the violent shaking. After a major earthquake, small movements in the rocks can cause an aftershock.
Earthquakes are the worst natural disaster to experience because they cause millions of dollars worth of damage. They are cause by tectonic plates rubbing together. The violent shaking of the earthquake can cause buildings to go down in a matter of seconds. The scariest thing is its unpredictability. Did you know more than 3 million earthquakes happen a year? Crazy, right?
