How To Eat A Poem is an interesting poem to read, written in the 20th century. Eve Merriam was an American poet and writer born as Eva Moskovitz on 19th July,1916 in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, she died of cancer on 11th April,1992 in Manhattan.
How To Eat A Poem is one of the most interesting poems written in the world. It is a short free verse and it simply talks about how to read and understand a poem you love and enjoy it. She compared it to eating a sweet smelling, juicy fruit.

Don't be polite

Bite in
Pick it up with your fingers and lick the juice that

may run down your chin.
That is my favourite part of the poem. Just like eating the fruit you enjoy most.
