Around 443 thousand deaths a year are caused by tobacco. Due to smoking you will fill yourself with millions of chemicals that will harm your lungs. If people smoke in public they can get others sick with secondhand smoke. Smoking also causes pollution. Smoking causes many diseases, and smoking is a hard habit to break For these reasons, smoking should be illegal.

Secondhand smoke is when someone, usually the person that is not smoking breathes in the smell of the smoking chemicals. Just like if someone smokes themselves the second hand smoker will have the same consequences. These consequences no matter the circumstance affect your health and most are deadly. Secondhand smoke is as serious as someone smoking. Secondhand smoking is polluting the air. Hence, the pollution of the air is another cause on why smoking should be illegal.

Smoking should be illegal because it is very bad for your health. According to livestrong.com, “The CDC reports that 46 million Americans age 18 and older smoke cigarettes, 443,000 smoking-related deaths occur annually.” Smoking impacts your lifespan, it causes premature death. In the article Smoking by Nemours it states that, “Many of the chemicals in cigarettes, like nicotine and cyanide, are actually poisons that can kill in high enough doses.” Thus, the things it does to ones health is detrimental and truly unwanted.

Smoke pollutes the air and it can give people asthma and asthma attacks. Air pollution is when the air is contaminated with chemicals that harm your health. When the smoke pollutes the air, it causes other people to smell the chemicals. Chemicals including, acetone, acetic acid, nicotine, and cyanide which are poisonous to humans. If the air is polluted by cigarette smoke, the chemicals used to make the cigarette are also in the air, causing us to smell the poison. Clearly, smoking is a huge part of air pollution.

Smoking may lower risk of Parkinson’s disease but it also impacts people with numerous other diseases. Parkinson’s disease is when you have difficulty moving. Diseases such as Cancer, Emphysema, heart disease, and stroke. Smoking may lower the risk of obesity but the risks for other things will increase.Smoking detriments your health. People may say smoking causes less stress when it actually gets you more stressed out. To conclude, smoking should be illegal because, of the detriment it causes to ones health, the secondhand smoke, and the pollution the secondhand smoke causes.

For the following reasons smoking should be illegal. Smoking is detrimental to your health. It can give people various diseases. It causes air pollution. The air pollution leading to secondhand smoke. Secondhand smoke is as serious and has the same consequences as one smoking. Smoking won't do any good therefore, why do it in the first place. Hence, if someone is smoking tell them to put that cigarette or tobacco down and show others that anyone is strong enough to stop that detrimental habit.
