Beyoncé Knowles Biography
“There's plenty of days when I'm like 'Oh God, why? But that's just life. It's every job, not just mine. Every moment is not perfect. But it's definitely more good times than bad. You can't even compare. And when I'm on stage it feels incredible” (Knowles in “Beyoncé Knowles Quotes”). This was said by one of the most talented performers of our lifetime, Beyoncé Knowles. Beyoncé had always loved to sing and perform since she was a little girl. She was in talent shows, and a singing group, formed by her father, including her cousin and a couple of friends. Her first major success in the music industry was the female group she led called Destiny’s Child. They had very successful careers, but the group split up and Beyoncé went solo. Not only is she am American superstar, but her music is also known world-wide.
Beyoncé always had a love for music, even when she was a child. Beyoncé Giselle Knowles was born in Houston, Texas on September 4th, 1981. She showed talent in music before she could even talk. “When she got onstage she was just a different kid. She was so confident and she looked so happy, and we were like, 'Who is that?' After that, there was no stopping her -- she was obsessed” said Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother (Knowles in “Tina Knowles Quotes”). Beyoncé sang in her church choir and performed soulful hymns with the congregation. She also took opera classes where she was classically trained. She was also put into dance classes where she immediately expressed talent. “When we saw her on stage for the first time, it was incredible. I’d never seen her so alive and confident” recalled her mother, Tina (Knowles in Tina Knowles Quotes). Beyoncé auditioned for a local singing group called Girl’s Tyme, and got a spot. She performed with them at local events. She performed alongside with her cousin, Kelly Rowland, who eventually joined her in Destiny’s Child.
Destiny’s Child was formed by Beyoncé’s father, Matthew Knowles, when the girls were still teenagers. In 1992 Destiny’s Child performed on Star Search. They did not win but they started getting some local attention. Their first single came out in 1997 and it went multi-platinum. In 2000, two of Destiny’s Child group members left the group. Two more members were added, Farrah Franklin and Michelle Williams, but Ms. Franklin left the group after a few months. This left the group a trio. Beyoncé said “I just hope people don't get sick of us. I'm sick of us and I'm in Destiny's Child” when she was asked about the coming and going of her group members (Knowles in Beyoncé Knowles Quotes). Their 2001 album, Survivor, was a huge success earning them multiple Grammys. “I love you. You are my angels. I love y'all so much” said Beyoncé when they announced the group’s “break-up” soon after the album came out (Knowles in Rolling Stone). The group decided that each member was going to pursue solo careers. Not only did Beyoncé start working on a solo album, she began to pursue acting.
Beyoncé has been come to known as a universal diva, but those who are closest to her know different. The person who interviewed her for Elle Magazine states that “Beyoncé shares her sweet side…” (The Liberation in Elle Magazine). She wants to be not only a talented performer but a good person with a good heart. In an interview with Cosmo Girl Beyoncé said she wants to be a legend. When she was asked what makes a celebrity she responded “When you say her name, what you think about is her star quality. She is a good person, has good spirit, and is more than just a person who performs and sells records. She’s a person who will change your life” (The Liberation in Elle Magazine). Beyoncé has become a legend with her many accomplishments, not only in the music industry, but in life. In 2004, right after launching her solo career, Beyoncé won five Grammy’s with “Dangerously in Love”. She also took the record for most wins by a female artist. Her second album “B-day” released on her 25th birthday and sold over 540,000 copies in the U.S. She has also starred in a few successful movies such as Goldmember, The Pink Panther, and Dreamgirls. She is a CoverGirl, and has worked with Pepsi. Beyoncé has had an all-around successful career, and she seems to be living a happy life.

She was in a very successful musical group that people still “jam-out” too. Finally she has had one of the most triumphant solo careers since 2000.
