Review of My Label
The writing titled “My Label,” written by Ray, talks about immigration inside his family. The writing will leave you feeling inspired and proud! Ray starts off his story by explaining how he had heard lots of words thrown around his family. Ray’s parents were illegal immigrants from Mexico. He explains for much of his younger life he didn’t know what that meant or how to even react to it. He then asks his mother one night in bed about what “illegal migrant” meant. She had explained to Ray what it meant to him and his family. To his surprise she finishes up with the explanation telling ray that he was not an illegal immigrant. He was born in America making him an American citizen. This was eye opening to him, as his world was as open as he made it. He could do anything he dreamed of with nothing in his way to stop him.
