Feedback on "Death Waits for No One"
“Death Waits for No One” is a unique piece by Michelle Sung. In this short story, the narrator is experiencing seemingly normal moments you would experience in life. Though, there is something peculiar about these memories- the narrator has no blood or pulse. Soon, the narrator realizes they are dead, and that Death had made life “flash before her eyes.”
This fiction story gives a new perspective to death. It shows how death can be personified, and it makes literal use of the phrase “life flashing before your eyes.” When I first read this piece, I was surprised at how it ended. I hadn’t realized the narrator was dead from the start. When I did realize it, I felt compelled to read it over again. This time, I could read the story from an entirely different point of view.
