Feedback on "Suck It In" by Kristin Hopkins
"Suck It In" by Kristin Hopkins greatly symbolizes the mindset of every typical teenager with the feeling of being self-conscious about oneself. When the narrator was 12 years old, at France, her mother mother noted a few words that changed her life forever. Constantly, those words would repeat itself in her mind, reminding her that she is full of flaws. The author portrays the feeling of the narrator exactly, the pain of not being perfect.
This article makes me realize that no one is ever flawless. It renders a thought in ones mind; is dignity worth it all? As described in "Suck It In," "I tore away from his gaze, full of shame and humiliation, and walked off as if dignity still applied to me." This statement really speaks the mind of an individual everyday. Hiding oneself away from society is definitely not worth the effort. One should embrace what they have and accept who they are.
