Feedback on "The Other Sophia"
"The Other Sophia" by Sophia Watwood is a piece written by a girl who shares her name with many other girls, and doesn't like it. She is writing a letter to all the other Sophia's who make her feel less, and how she doesn't appreciate always having to remove a vowel from her name. She ends by saying "-Sophie." I really like this piece, because I don't think this would be something that she would say to anyone, other than in writing. It is a really well written piece, and makes me realize an issue that I never really knew people had, which is that some feel lesser than others who share their same name. The piece really gives insight on the problem. My name, Ellis, isn't really a common one, so I am not familiar with how she feels. I really understood it, especially through lines like "I've always seen you as competition" and "You were the Sophia I wished I was."
