For Abigail
"For Abigail" by Josh Galvin addresses bullying. Josh explains the different types of bullies-which I never knew existed-and which one he was. He made jokes about people to build his self esteem, but brought down others. According to Josh, this is known as a Class Clown Bully.
When Abigal, a new girl with cerebral palsy arrived, he made fun of her disabilities by imitating her. After seeing Abigail's artwork, where she turned her pain into something beautiful, Josh realized what he was doing was wrong. He felt bad and ashamed for making fun of Abigail.
Bullying has become a huge issue now, and is always happening. We have all bullied people as well as been bullied. I wish bullying never was a problem, but it is. All we can do is try to treat people the way we want to be treated-with respect.
