“You Are Lucky” by Jess R is an excellent piece. With each sentence, I felt more and more grateful for everything I have and am able to do. The second person point of view made me feel almost disappointed at myself for not realizing the privileges humans have. As the reader continues, a sense of pride and hope is developed for being able to live and make life better.

Jess points out the simple things that everyone is guilty of neglecting every day. From the first word until the last, I was pulled in to discover the reasons we, as humans, are lucky. Overall, “You Are Lucky,” is an intriguing, thought-provoking piece that leaves you thankful for everything in your life, good and bad. If only everyone had the privilege to be able to read and understand this story, our world would be an amazing place.
