"Sour Summer"
The poem I read today is “Sour Summer” by Maggie Apple. This poem is about what mostly happen in the summer. I really liked the part when she says “Sour lemon, a sunny face, open the window and a familiar place.” This poem connects with my family in many ways. For summer we always get together and hangout in the park and having parties or barbecues. This poem makes me think of my family in the summer and my baby cousins running around screaming and laughing at each other. “Sour grass, pinky toes” helps me remember all my little cousins with no shoes and there ‘pinky toes’ rubbing in the green grass. I loved it because my cousins are getting bigger and this poem helps me remember of them when they were younger.
