“My Acne,” a poem by Amelia Hamilton that was published in the January/February issue,  was a stunning poem that deserves to be acknowledged. Even though the poem is just a few lines, each line is meaningful, each word carefully chosen to convey the message of the poem. The author starts off by addressing the audience: “You stare at my acne in disgust.” She then goes on to say that you cannot demand perfection, because everyone has their flaws.

This piece was beautifully crafted, and when I describe it, it sounds a lot more simple than it seems. It was powerful, compelling me to look deep inside and assess what was really important in life, not just the outside. “But we’re all just imperfect recycled stardust” was the most powerful line of the poem, and I was forever moved by it.
