The West MAG
Where isolated homesteads once stood,
suburbs now sprawl.
The buffalo that once roamed the prairie
are now being served with a side of fries.
The eyes of a once-mighty people,
look at you with sorrow from a reservation’s gate.
Lands in which you could walk free,
are fenced in and filled with cattle.
Rustic towns have become towns and cities,
forsaking their heritage for flashing cameras.
Places where you could once see to the edge of the earth,
are choked with smog.
A place that was once called the Wild West,
has become tame.
Land that once made you feel free from the entire world,
is gone.
And I wish I had been there to see it.
