The Battered and Broke
Blue bruises lay like crowns upon his head,
His aura, like many, seems blackened and dead.
His walk weakened slows, as he tries hide and not show,
Anonymity is his guardian, and tangible aid is his foe.
The pain like a cancer grows, but still, no one can know,
If no one can know and he can't show, how will his pain ever go?
Day after day, still he endures, all the punches and the chokes,
He is his only friend, and this is the dilemma of the battered and the broke.
