Now or Never
Walking outside in the frigid cold,
The white blanket of snow masked its path.
Suddenly tracks in the snow,
Finally, nowhere to go.
It veered off the and into the woods.
There was a choice to make,
It was now or never.
The sound of sweeping wind through the trees,
Constant fear and noises coming from all directions.
An unsettling feeling of being watched or followed.
The snow got heavier and it was impossible to see.
Crunching snow coming from behind with the hesitation of turning around,
Working up the courage to finally look and see not a human nor animal.
Fear in his eyes when faced with what is just unknown?
The screams and cries for help coming from the heart of the woods.
Someone once again approaches the woods.
The blanket of snow covers the ground and the sight of footprints can be seen again.
They already fell into it’s trap.
A board with “missing people” papers sits beside a tree.
It gives a devilish smile as it watches its new prey starting to walk in.
They hesitated going in.
But there was a choice to make,
It was now or never.

I was inspired by short horror stories made by other people.
