Dear Diary I Met A Boy...That Sent Me a List
(Linne): Dear Diary, I met a boy. He has the most beautiful ocean blue eyes and the warmest smile. But he’ll never be mine. You see yesterday during math class I glanced over, and he was smiling at me, but I couldn’t find the courage within me to come across any words for him.
So many people ask, “Linne why would you like him? He has nothing in common with you and he’s ugly!” And I always respond, well, you don’t like a hamburger because it looks good, you like a hamburger because it tastes good. And with this boy he’s different, he might not look good on the outside but on the inside there’s so much more than anyone would have anticipated. Some people may not get it, but I do and that's enough.
But, maybe those people are right? He never even looks at me. To him, I’m the background dancer and my best friend is the main character. He only talks to me when he needs a therapist. He stares at her, not me. She owns his eyes and I own his lies. But I want his eyes! I could stare in them all day! Wy won’t he just look at me? Today he said he wanted to send me his “crush list”, like what the heck is that?! Once I heard that light and catchy ring of my cellphone, my heart began to race. As I flipped my phone over, I could see the only two names on the list. My best friend and this girl I went to camp with, that I’m pretty sure he met once. Why would he mess with me like that?!? What did I do to him?
The butterflies he had given me earlier today definitely would have earned me a spot on that list. He went right towards me after class and hugged me from the side and whispered in my ear that he had to talk to me. The tingle that his voice left in the center of my ear kept me staring at him. Then my friend came up to me and he left within seconds of her setting foot in the hallway. My friend, Haley, told me that the way he grabbed was screaming the fact that he had a crush on me and honestly, I kind of got my hopes up from that. But his list that he just sent me didn’t have my name on it. And it never will.
