We are rich my family and I and I hate it. Mom is never around she is always away in another country acting for one of her stupid movies. Dad isn't really ever any better he is home too much and always has plenty of beer someplace that he gets drunk off of.The only one who I consider normal in my family is Little Scotty but then he is only three.
Well that's my family. Me? I have no friends other than Buddy my mini clay dragon and he isn't even real. But, still I pick him up and put him in my jean jacket pocket, kiss Scotty on the cheek and bike to bus stop.
Kelly glares at me as soon as I plop into a seat and shestands up to go sit somewhere else. I reach in my pocket for Buddy but he is gone I glance out the window in panic and see him crushed into tiny pieces by the side of the road.

My teacher Mr. K claps his hands once for silence and says: "Kate."
There is a little cry of "here," from behind me.
"Emma."
"Here."
Then Mr. K makes a face and says, "Meagan."
"Meg," I say.
Mr. K ignores me, "Meagan? Are you here."
"Yes I am."
I hardly listen to the teachers at all. I want to go get Buddy so when the bell rings signaling the end of school I don't wait for the bus I don't wait for it. Instead I run sweat pouring down my face and stop at the bus stop unlock my bike and walk over to where I last saw Buddy. He isn't there.
