"If Life is just a dream, then I don't ever want to wake up..." -Me

Usually there are stories of happily ever after’s and superpowers, but this story isn’t. If you don’t like that kind of story, then exit out right now. Just walk away, I’m serious.

But if you’re okay with those kinds of stories then go on, and let me tell you my story…
21, 7, 14. I turned the lock right, left, then right again and opened my locker to put away my books. Thank god school was out, and next year I wouldn’t be coming back.

I didn’t need my stuff anyways, since I had graduated.
I didn’t notice that he was there until he spoke.
“Hey Lils, I’m glad that you’re still here.”
I closed my locker to see him standing there.
Curly light brown locks, dark blue stunning eyes, perfect shaped lips…
“Hi Leo, what’s up?” I asked him. His name isn’t Leo, of course, it’s Romeo. He doesn’t like the name that his Shakespeare obsessed mom gave him, so he uses Leo instead. They both have the same ending anyway. Eo.
“I was just wondering if you were going to Nia’s party tonight.”
“Of course I am! What makes you think I wasn’t gonna?” I winked at him.
“Ah, well I was just wondering if you wanted to go to Teen’s Night Club afterwards with me…”
“Was that a question?” I sarcastically said as I closed my locker and put the lock on it. I turned back to him.
He grinned at me. “Great, I’ll pick you up to go to the party, 5 o’ clock,” he looked at his watch, “in about an hour.”
“Alright, sounds great,” I replied, and I smiled at him shyly.
He stepped forwards towards me and leaned his head in and kissed me, closing his eyes.
I fluttered my eyes in surprise, but then I close my eyes and put my hands around his neck and he put his around my waist. He pushed me lightly against the lockers and broke our lips apart. I breathed in air and our lips met again, and he gently kissed me.
Thank god the hallway was empty; all the kids gone home to either get ready for Nia’s party or something else.
He broke away, and took his hands off my waist.
“See you at the party then,” he said. He flashed a small smile at me and quickly walked out.
I stood there, leaning against the lockers for a few seconds before I walked out to my black F-Type Coupe with a sun roof.
My parents had gotten me my own car on the night of prom, and I was super happy that I wouldn’t have to drive in that shitty old mini-van anymore.
I opened the door and got in, and drove off to my house.
My house is out on a cliff by the ocean and it’s a modern home. Ya know one with a flat roof and three sides are standing on quartz pillars or whatever. And a lot of windows.
I parked in the mini house which we called the garage.
I call it a mini house, but really it’s larger than that. Okay, imagine your garage. Are you imagining it? Alright, so multiply the size of it by about three.
There you have it; the size of the garage
Now if I want to explain the rooms in my house, here’s what you do. Just look up Modern (name of room) and there you have it. That’s the gist of my house. Oh, and for the kitchen, add in quartz.
Alright, are you back from searching it up? Yes, don’t lie, I know you went to another tab to look it up.
Anyways, my house has one kitchen, one living room, four bathrooms, two bedrooms, and one office.
Now, you may be thinking that I’m lucky to live in such a nice house.  I am, but at some times I wish I were in a less fancy house. And oh trust me, you would too if you lived in this house for all your seventeen years of living.
When I walked in, my dad was sitting on the couch watching TV.
“Hey Cupcake,” he says as I walk in the door.
“Hey Dad,” I said back. “I’m going to a party tonight then I’m going to Teen’s Night Club afterwards. I’m most likely not gonna be home for a long time  tonight. Is that okay Dad?”
“Whatever floats your boat, Cupcake. Don’t drink too much” he replied.
“Awesome, I’m gonna go get ready,” I replied, and I headed up the spiral stairs.
I ended up picking out a light crop top that was black with a sort of monarch butterfly look coming out and expanding from one of its corners. I put on a pair of light pale blue and ripped jeans and a pair of black high tops.
I took a shower then put on my clothes and put my hair in a small wrap around braid.
I put on a little bit of blush, but that and nothing else.
I don’t believe in makeup.
By the time I was done, it was almost five o’clock.
I grabbed my wallet and put it in my back pocket and waited for Leo out on the front steps.
Leo  pulled up in his silver Premium Subaru, wearing deep blue shorts and a blue shirt.
I got up and walked down the steps to his car and got in.
We drove there in silence for a long time, before he broke it.
“So…how have you been? I haven’t seen you for a while, ya know, with school and all.”
“Oh, I’ve been alright…” I replied, which was partly the truth. “And you?”
“I’ve been good myself.”
We drove for a little while longer in silence.
“I’ve missed you. A lot,” he said. “Why are you wearing jeans? It’s hot out.”
“I never did tell you about my legs, did I?”
He shook his head.
“Well, when I was twelve, my old house caught on fire. It was in the middle of the night, and I didn’t know until I woke up to fire all around me. I got up, but one of my trophies above me fell and knocked me unconscious. My dad said that my mom ran into the room to save me, sacrificing herself. My legs were so burnt up that they had to take them off and replace them with fake ones. So yeah, now I’m like, a cyborg.” I lifted up my jean leg to reveal the fake metal one that was in its place.
“Oh,” he said, and we stayed silent until we finally arrived at the house.
Now, just imagine a log cabin turned into a half mansion. There’s Nia’s house, along with a pool in the back.
He parked at the curb and turned off the engine and we got out.
The front door was open, and you could already hear the music from inside.
We walked up the steps and through the door.
Teens were already dancing or sitting and talking.
We saw Nia and he walked over to us. Now, you may be wondering why in Hell’s name a boy would be named Nia. Well, his mom wanted a girl and when she didn’t get one she didn’t have any boy names ready.
Nia is African American with pale blue eyes.
“Hey Leo! My man! What’s goin’ on?” It was obvious that he had been drinking a bit.
His parents were out of town, which made for a great party.
“Doing well, my friend.” Leo replied.
“Ah, well that’s good to hear. Listen, if there’s anything ya need, just tell me.” He winked at him then walked off.
I laughed and a grin appears on Leo’s face.
I feel like if I explained the whole night, it would just drag on and on. All we did was dance and talk. The only thing I would need to tell you about is the last dance before we left to go to Teen’s Night Club, and the other thing....
The last song was a slow song. By that time, it was about ten-thirty.
As we began to dance, he put his hands on my waist and I put my arms around his neck. I looked up at him. There was something about him, about his face. Was he hiding something? Dangerous or sneaky? Or maybe it was just the alcohol.

He caught me looking at him and looked back at me. I lightly blushed and then he pulled me in, and we hovered there. I could smell the alcohol on his breath. He must’ve drunk quite a bit. Finally, he leaned in and kissed me.
I heard whoops and cheers, but I didn’t care. I closed my eyes and let him kiss me.

When the song ended we tore apart and I looked at him again.
He blushed, and walked away. I sat down at the couch at watched the people dance. The song had changed back to a normal tone.
After another good forty-five minutes of dancing with friends and talking, I decided to go find Leo and tell him I was ready to leave and go to the Teen’s Night Club.
I walked around, looking for him and couldn’t find him anywhere. I walked down another hallway and to a dead end.
I was about to walk back when I heard the sound of lips against each other from a room.
Now, I’m not usually a nosey person but for some reason I was curious.
I went over to the door and looked through the crack.
My heart shattered into a billion pieces.
Leo kissing another girl.
I walked away from the door, pretending nothing had happened and sat down on the couch.
A little while later, he came over to me and said, “Let’s go,” and we walked out and to his car.
“I…I don’t feel like going to Teen’s Night Club…” I managed to say.
He looked at me with a questioning expression, but he didn’t ask me. He drove me back to my house and escorted me to the door.
“So, uh, goodnight then…”
“Night,” I replied, walking into my house. I knew that he had wanted to kiss me goodnight, but I wasn’t going to let him.
The next few days, he tried to call me, but I wouldn’t pick up.
I began cutting myself. One cut for my cursed legs. One for him cheating on me. So on. Until finally, one day, I couldn’t bare it. It went out on my balcony and stood up on the small wall we called a fence. I looked down, off the cliff and into the rocky ocean.
I was about to jump when I heard him behind me.
“Wait!” he yelled out. I didn’t turn.
“Why shouldn’t I? You hate me, my dad doesn’t care about anything because he’s a drunk, my mother is dead, my legs are fake. What is there to live for? My wishes, my wishes for a happy life with children are all false.”
“I love you-“
“Like Hell you do!”
He stayed silent for a moment. “Well, what am I supposed to do with this ring then? I can’t return it, and I certainly don’t think there’ll ever be another Lillith I’ll love…”
“What?!” I turned around and looked at the ring in his hand. It had my name engraved in it.
“I wanted to promise my love to you, like a promise ring…”
“Then what was that with the girl?”
“Oh…well she may or may have not gotten me even more drunk…”
“Well then, I guess I’ll let you be my Romeo…”
He looked frustrated, but blushed. “I thought I told you never to call me that.”
“Oops,” I said with a grin.
Seven Years Later…
I watched as my kids played in the back yard, and I smiled.
I felt a hand on my waist I looked to my right, and saw Leo.
My grin grew wider, and I called for the children to come in.
I woke up to the sound of a heart monitor, and looked around. I was in a hospital, and my kids were sitting by my bedside.
My daughter, the older one, called for a nurse and she came in and told the kids to wait outside.
“What happened?” I immediately asked.
“There was a fire in your house, your kids are alright m’am.”

“And Leo?!”

“Your husband? I’m sorry m’am, I’m afraid we found no trace of him except for this ring,” she says handing me the ring. The ring I gave him on that day I almost jumped. The one that says, Romeo ‘Leo’ Aretuna.
My Romeo, who had made my wishes come true…
