Watch Me
"I forbid you to do this."
She said,
quite firmly.
"Why not?"
I said,
quietly.
"The class hasn't done this yet.
I want you to do something from the book."
"No"
I said, standing my ground.
"Just because the class doesn't know it, I should be able to play this piece. After all, this is a solo."
Her lips formed a fine line.
I waited.
"This is your last warning,"
She warned me.
"Or I am sending you to the office!"
I stood there.
"I will play this piece. This was my mother's song. It would make her happy to watch me from up there play her so-"
Her face was not a pleasant site.
"SHUT YOUR MOUTH! DO NOT SPEAK ANOTHER WORD ABOUT THIS!"
"Watch me."
