Carla and I had only broken up seven months ago, and she seemed to think that there was no way we would ever get back together. That was obviously ridiculous because I am the best boyfriend a girl could have, she just needed some time to see that. She told me when we were dating seven months ago that she had always wanted one of those  huge stuffed animal bears with the soft fur and big eyes. I figured I’d go to the store and get her one.
I pulled up to Costco and went inside. I could basically spot the gigantic bears from the front of the store, so I went into the sea of people and hauled the big fluffy bear into my cart. After purchasing the bear, I went to the food court area and bought a jumbo hotdog and a Coke. I walked over to one of the red tables and placed the bear on the bench across from me. As I ate my hotdog, the bear and I looked into each others’ eyes. Kevin, the name I had given the bear, was perfect. Carla would love him. She didn’t, but I’ll get to that later.
As soon as I finished my hot dog and gulped down my Coke, I carried Kevin over to the car and strapped him into the front seat. I smiled all the way home, thinking she would have to take me back if I had this great of a present for her. I was the best boyfriend ever. I walked inside the house and sat Kevin on the couch. I put on the TV so he could watch some of the Ellen Show while I made dinner. My parents were gone for the weekend, so I decided to make some spaghetti. We usually had spaghetti as a family, so to celebrate them being gone and finally getting to choose what I wanted for dinner, I made spaghetti. Why not? I like spaghetti. I stirred the tomato sauce and peered over to make sure Kevin was still watching the show. He was. I was glad to find out he didn’t go anywhere.
I went over to the dinner table and set two places. One for me one for Kevin. I could barely contain my excitement. Carla would love him. I sat Kevin down at the place across from me. I put two scoops of noodles on my plate and then his. I asked him how many meatballs he wanted. It seemed like he wanted three, so I gave him three. After we finished eating, I washed the dishes and sat him back down on the couch.
I went into my room to pick out a nice outfit for my exciting evening. I chose a plaid sweater and some black slacks. I went to the bathroom and combed my hair. I knew I had to look perfect. It would be a very special night. I met Kevin in the living room and told him it was time to go. I picked him up and we were on our way to Carla’s house. She only lived two blocks away, so I decided Kevin and I would walk. It was dark, but the street lights helped us find our way there.
By the time we approached the second block, I was basically skipping with Kevin in my arms I was so excited. Carla would love him. We finally reached her street. I walked up to 578 Oak St. and rang the doorbell. No one answered. I rang it again. Still no answer. After I rang it a third time, there was still no answer, so I ran around to the side of the house and peered into the kitchen window. No one was there. I went around back and looked into the dining room. Still, no one there. I finally dragged Kevin around to the living room window and finally, I saw her. She was sitting on the couch reading a book. She was so pretty. She looked really pretty when she read books. I knocked on the window. I guess she didn’t hear it, so I knocked again. She glanced up, a confused look on her face. I waved my arms in the air and pointed to Kevin. I guess she didn’t like Kevin that much because she screamed and ran into the other room. I went around to the kitchen window and tried again. She was standing by the fridge, so I knocked on the window to get her attention. I pointed to Kevin and then held him up in the air so she could get a better look at him. She seemed to still not like him like I thought she would because she ran around to the dining room. I followed her and knocked on the window once again. This time before I could even hold Kevin up for her to see, she screamed that she was going to call the cops on me. Not again. I grabbed Kevin and ran across the street, I ran to the big bush in front of 565.
As the cop pulled into the driveway, I braced myself. He knocked on the door and Carla opened it, he went inside and I knew this was my chance. I made a break for it. I sprinted all the way home, dragging Kevin behind me. I finally reached the front door and swung it open. I shut the door and locked it. Kevin and I fell on the couch to catch our breath. How did I end up here again? I don’t know. It was fine. I was a good boyfriend. One day she’d realize that. I decided I’d just try again next week.

I wrote this peice for my english class. I was imitating Louise Erdrich's, "I'm a Mad Dog Biting Myself for Sympathy".
