River Glass
A windy day was blowing by
The sun was setting
In the darkened sky
And all the while a bird called from his perch.
Upon the beach lay a glass bottle
A bottle that had been unnoticed, forgotten and untouched.
As the sun peaked her eyes over the edge of the water,
The bird awoke and sang about the bottle.
But no one noticed. Everyone forgot. And no one touched it.
The bird flew down from the branch of his tree
He trotted to the bottle and leaned down.
One tap of his beak on the glass sent the bottle soaring
It sent the bottle over the rocks, down the hills, and to the edge of wind and water.
The bird raked the bottle with his claws and held it high
High for the world to see.
Everyone who had forgotten, not noticed, and not touched the bottle
Saw the bottle soaring from the bird, through the wind, onto the rocks
Into the water it swam.
It cracked. It broke. It floated through the sea and landed on the rocks
Where everyone forgot, never noticed, and never touched.
