A Flat Fall

My life seemed to be flashing in sudden heart beats. One moment I was on the plain black rug the next everything went blank. My eyes blinked furiously as I tried to comprehend the words that had just been spoken.
“No. It can’t be,” I mumbled as tears swirled threateningly down my bright green eyes.
My chest was heaving as my heart threatened to stop. My stomach lurched as strong, cold arms lifted me off.
“NOO!” I bellowed. “You can’t just do that! You can’t! No!”
